Hello sportsfans.
Well...I just have one thing to say...
We won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won we won...
See? Just won thing.
Oh...and the All Blacks lost.
Wallabies 20
Tries: Adam Ashley-Cooper, Scott Staniforth
Conversions: Matt Giteau 2
Penalties: Stirling Mortlock 2
Brilliance: Larkham, Gregan, Hoiles, Mortlock (but he still knocked himself out)
Beauty: Stephen Larkham
Courage: The Wallabies Front Row. Yes...even Duh-nning.
Uselessness: (#15) Julian Huxley
All Blacks 15
Tries: Woodcock, Gear
Conversions: Carter
Penalties: Carter
Stupidity: Dan Carter
Pansy naff-ness: Dan Carter
****************
First half was best viewed blindfolded.
Second half....we got angry....and hungry....and it was a score-gasboard...!!
Will be back on Monday with a match review and when I've stoppedgloating partying being smug nah....being smug and celebrating.
Gotta go. My my my i yi woo.... Mah mah mah my Corona is calling me....not that I need anything else to make my motor run...I am revved up sugah!!!
....and here's some reasons why;
***********************
Dan Carter (All Blacks #10) gets an eye-dea of why Stephen Larkham (Wallabies Perfect 10) kicks butt.
************************
Troy Favell (All Blacks #5) Wallaby-ed up and nowhere to go....except over Huxley (#15)....
NB: Am fully aware that we cannot rest on our laurels...yet....but....we needed a fairy tale ending for this match (see previous post for why) and if nothing else...The Wallabies proved that when the going gets tough...the tough kick ass.
Go The Wallabies!!!

It was worth getting up for. The game was never in doubt from the moment that final kick left the boot.

Was this a good thing? Who's going to console those poor loosers? They'll be traumatized for life. Couldn't officials have just called the contest a draw to begin with and sent everyone home? Sparing players of risk to injuries and fan abuse. Isn't this competitive spirit getting out of hand? Nawwwwwwwwwwwwwt!

I stayed up (and almost stayed awake) to catch the match and I'm glad I did. What a great win by the Wallabies.
They need a bit of practice with their scrums, though. I like what the commentator said at one point, that the ref didn't even know who was at fault when yet another scrum failed so he just awarded the free kick(?) to whoever he felt like.
Excellent win.

...yeah...I definitely knew it was a foregone conclusion when the final whistle blew...
Oh very funny darlin'...
I was never in any doubt...and at one stage I was the only one...there were quit a few ex Rugby players watching the match last night at our place and all of
usthem were itching to get their boots on...The Wallabies were playing Polite Rugby.
They've lost a little bit of the 'mongrel factor'...the F**k You attitude...BUT...they got angry in the second half.
I'm sorry if the Blogerati don't understand this attitude but that's their problem and the reason why it's always a lose-lose situation for them.
I'm glad you watched it. The 2nd Bledisloe match will be one to watch...and the one we really need to win.
Big hug sugah...

Your keen (and warped...which is a good thing) sense of irony and humour is always appreciated...
Yes. It is.
Life is a contest. Not a competition.
Fly well Raven...

Well...DDH had lots to say about the scrum (being a former #1 Prop and a current coach)...and I just had to ask him about the logistics of this...
The problem wasn't so much that our scrums weren't good...in fact, considering that we had 3 relative rookies up against 3 of the world's best front rowers, we didn't do too badly....the problem was that the All Blacks #3 tighthead prop Carl Hayman was not binding properly and kept his hand on the gound at "...engage"
This means that he had an unfair and illegal advantage.
Both packs need to bind properly...like fingers laced together...in order to keep the scrum steady and doing what it is supposed to do. Push against each other forward and not be turned around.
By keeping one hand on the ground (and making it very hard for his opposite player, #1 prop to bind onto his shoulder), the AB #3 prop was giving his pack an unfair advantage and making the Wallaby pack unsteady....and forcing us to collapse or turn in order not to collapse...and leaving us vulnerable on attack.
This may be the point but it is supposed to be done fairly, based on the strength of the pack weight momentum.
The Ref didn't bother coming on to the 'blind side' of the scrum, especially when it was our scrum feed and he kept blaming us for collapsing the scrum...saying that we 'jumped the gun' on "...pause..."
Unfortunately there was some bad refereeing decisions made last night and the Wallabies were incredible to win despite this.
I kid you not...it was Larkham settling the players that brought about the win. You may not have been abl to see this but he was yelling at his forwards to keep picking and driving...just surging forward with the ball, gaining metres....sigh...even the ex forwards in my house were all unanimous in their praise of Larkham.
And he's a Back.
Forwards don't praise Backs....however they all did sledge a bit..."yeah...bloody back...easy for him to stand there yelling directions"!...
I'm glad you watched the match...it burns me that it was broadcast so late in Vic and SA.
Hope you and your lovelies are having a warm weekend...
Big hugs Cara...

The ref? Did he have a say on the game or what.
It spoke volumes when he intercepted a pass late.
Giteau on for Gregan helped turn it, I thought.
Larkham's composure and experience was vital and his ball handling was lovely to watch(no joke).
I'm looking forward to Eden Park.
Should be a ripper.
Crouching but not engaged.

Flashes of memories
I finally saw the whole 'poetry in motion' thing you were talking about last night... there were some moves there that would make any performer proud.
I hope you have made a full recovery now!

The Ref?
The haka obviously intimidated someone...
Yes. Absolutely. I've just written a "GG is okay" post and have touched very briefly on this point.
When I eventually get around to writing a match review...I will expand on it.
Should be a ripper.
