Wrought Irony #2: The (lady)Birds and The (walla)Bees

January 9th 2007 07:36
A ladybird landed on my hand today....made me wonder...
What do you call a male ladybird?

A Wallaby!
As in an Australian Rugby Union player not a marsupial. (Ma Super 14* y'all.)

The birds and the bees...rather obvious then isn't it?
Therefore, I feel, just my humble-bee opinion that The Wallaroos** should be called The LadyBirds...snug as a rugger bee in a bug.

And while I was searching the depths of my propundity (not a typo), other questions rose to the surface...like....

Why isn't phonetic spelled phonetically?

If I was left handed would I still be a writer?

If vegetarians eat vegetables, does this mean carnivores eat carnivals?

Does this also mean humanitarians are cannibals? They eat tinned meat?

And what about egalitarians? Do they dine on eagle blood?

No silly... giggle...... They drink equality.

There is nothing wrought about this irony. There is no irony in this post.
I'm just feeling whimsical...I was listening to some heavy metal whim.
I was sitting on a wrought iron bench when the ladybird landed.

And I was thinking rugby. Super 14 is about to start...and I get my fix. Finally.

And no...I'm not talking about Stephen Larkham.
Not everything I write has to refer to Larkham you know...
Sheesh.

*Super 14 - largest provincial Rugby Union championship in the Southern Hemisphere, consisting of 14 teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Only one Stephen Larkham.

**The Wallaroos - The Australian Womens Rugby Union Team. No Stephen Larkham

Oohwee, Female Rugby team. Your comments give me luck, so I guess "Paying you in kind" would involve doing the same.

The men wear stubbies, I figure the women must be wearing skirts.

Damn I love tennis.

If I could tell at first glance that a ladybird was male, I'd refer to it as a gentlemanbird, but alas I can't tell the difference.

...I suppose one must ask politely. After all the bird be a lady not a tramp...

Lord or Lady Bird from Bugingham Palace...
Please raise your wings.

Hiya Queen Kong,

I hope you are well....am sprinting over to your new post ...highly appropriate considering the topic!

Norm you are a brave man to suggest that Stephen Larkham is anything less than the perfect man to our Dusk!!!

I've always thought it cruel that the word Lisp contains an S. Whoever created the world was just gloating and being mean to those affected with a lisp.

I think my next test is to try to not mention Stephen Larkham in anything I write.
