This is a biased look at Rugby (from a Gamma point of view...hence the fuschia) and I make no apologies for that. Go The Wallabies! Go The Brumbies!...and ouch...Stephen Larkham...

Stephen Larkham Will Not be Joining Scotland's Yard.

August 13th 2007 21:00
Och ah dunoo jimmy. It's a cruel world.

Now I'll never get to see what Stephen Larkham looks like in a kilt.
I said 'in'. Not under.

Stephen Larkham: always above board.

- This image has nothing to do with this post. I just like it. And no I don't wish to be reincarnated as a surfboard. Sheesh.

Some sportsfans may be aware that Larkyum was headed off to Scotland after the Rugby World Cup, to grant his gorgeous self services to the Edinburgh Rugby Club.

Some sportsfans (especially this one on this post) are also aware that Larkyumyum's future as a MacYummy* is in doubt.

Although....supposedly...the row over who would control Edinburgh Rugby Club has been settled, it seems that Stephen will not be packing his bagpipes for Scotland.

Stephen had signed on for a 2 year contract to join the Magners Club formerly controlled by Edinburgh Rugby and headed by brothers Alex and Bob Carruthers but earlier this year, the clans went to war over ownership rights...and now that the Scottish Rugby Union has 'bought' back Edinburgh, it was decided that
it was not financially viable to sign him on the terms Edinburgh had agreed.

Yeah. They got him 'cheap'. The Edinburgh offer was the third most lucrative for Larkham so money was definitely not his motivator.
However...the money that was offered Larkham could be used to 'buy' 3 Scottish Rugby players so I do understand the reasoning.

The SRU...similar to the ARU but 10% less stupid and they really do wear skirts...has also fired the Edinburgh Coach, Lynn Howells and replaced him with Henry Edwards, the former Forwards Coach.

from News24

Gordon McKie, the SRU's chief executive, said that in appointing Henry Edwards... he is hoping stability could quickly be re-established.

But in looking to rebuild the squad, it cannot afford Larkham on the terms offered.
"We decided it would not be in Scottish rugby's best interests to proceed with that agreement," said McKie to The Herald.

"We have asked Edinburgh Rugby the out-going owners to advise the player that they are not in a position to fulfill the contract on the terms offered.

"If his agent wants to discuss matters with us we would be happy to do so, but the overall structure of the contract is not one that we would ordinarily issue to a top player."

Larkham is now free to weigh up his options, including the possibility of a move to Toulouse, who had actively pursued him before he committed to Scotland.

Lynn Howells is understandably pissed and not just because his parents named him Lynn.

Howells hit out at the SRU and McKie for his comments about Larkham and was reported to have said
that it would be a shame for Scottish rugby if someone of that calibre fails to turn up

Latest news reports cite that Larkham is considering throwing it all in and joining Rucks and Rolls as its Chief Inspiration Correspondant.

Stephen Larkham talking to the press about his offer to join Rucks and Rolls.com as Chief Swoonmaker.
Yes, I am thinking about joining Rucks and Rolls. I'm just a bit concerned about these fainting spells DuskDevi has every time I open my mouth...

...thump...

"There she goes again".

That offer has now been withdrawn.

...which left the Welsh free to make their move.

from icWales

THE DRAGONS could be poised to make an audacious move to sign Wallaby legend Stephen Larkham.

The Welsh region have been monitoring the Aussie’s position and the fallout between the owners of the Scottish side and the Scottish Rugby Union.

For the cash-strapped Dragons, landing Larkham would be a massive coup and ease the discontent among the Rodney Park faithful about the lack of a big-name signing.

But the Welsh side faces a battle to land the legendary Wallaby, with French giants Toulouse also in the race.

...but...if the ARU had any sense...and they're losing dollars so why would they?...they would keep Larkham here, on home soil and pay him to train Rugby players.
...by their own admission, the ARU has been unable to find someone to take Larkham's invaluable place. As a flyhalf.

As a Man?...that's just Wishin': Impossible.

That's another story and a whole other post, which I will get to once I stop fain...

...thump...

Dusk,

The last person who hinted at wanting to be reincarnated as surfboard was Prince Charles, so I'm glad you're not into that sort of stuff.

There go my suggestions for the new McDonald's NameItBurger competition.

I heard a rumour that Lyn Howls was named after his vetinarian mother Lyn. The source was a North American Indian called Two Horses. "Why do you ask?"

Don't' worry about your fainting spells. Larkham has just been on Re-Boot Camp. He'll get into your motherboard and work on the hard-drive and soft-drive until everything comes together.

Dusk,

That's a shame for Scotland. Larkham in a kilt wouldn't have been bad either.

Lynn Howells is understandably pissed and not just because his parents named him Lynn.
HAHAHAHAHA.

And as for Larkham as a trainer with the Wallabies. Why would they have Larkham, when they could get someone from Sth Africa or perhaps England to train them?? It's not like he knows anything about the Australian rugby team and could have insights that might be valuable.

It is a shame for Scotland. Not just aesthetically. Scotland does need a

Why would they have Larkham.......It's not like he knows anything about the Australian rugby team and could have insights that might be valuable.

The ARU doesn't actually hire people who might help the game. I believe the ARU is populated with enemas enemies who are trying to bring Rugby down.

Enema #1: The John (O'Neill)

I know that Larkham doesn't want to give up playing just yet and certainly the Rugby that is played in Europe at Club level is 'soft' in comparison to the Rugby played at provincial level here...but it's foolish to let him go at a time when his departure truly does leave a huge hole in Australian Rugby.

We really do not have anyone who can take his place.

Really.

Hope you're well KW...

Hiya Cara...

I don't think SL is that keen on going to France...for anything other than the World Cup.
Besides he knows I'm not a Francophile and what do you mean why does everything have to be about me and what does this have to do with SL anyway and when am I going to wake up?

Huh?

...giggle...

hugs my Cara...
