The Rest of The Super 14 Teams: NZ...S Africa joins the Party.
January 30th 2007 09:29
Please don't expect glowing accolades and sighs...these are Enemy Lines I am writing.
New Zealand
The Blues, formerly the Auckland Blues, are based in Auckland, New Zealand, and represent the Northland, North Harbour and Auckland unions.
They compete in the Super 14 (formerly Super 12) competition, which they have won three times; 1996, 1997, and 2003.
The Blues' main home ground is Eden Park in Auckland.
Coach: David Nucifora (former Brumbies coach)
Captain: Troy Flavell
Notable players:
Joe Rokocoko, Troy Flavell, Kevin Mealamu, Doug Howlett
Notable Retired or O/S players:
Sean Fitzpatrick, Jonah Lomu, Zinzan Brooke, Rupeni Caucaunibuca, Carlos Spencer
The Chiefs (formerly known as the Waikato Chiefs) are based in Hamilton, New Zealand. Their home ground is Waikato Stadium.
The team has been the least successful of the competition's five New Zealand sides. Until 2004, the Chiefs were the only New Zealand side to never have qualified for the Super 12 semi-finals. In that year the Chiefs earned their first semi-final berth, and in the end achieved 4th place (defeated 37-20 in the semi-final by the ACT Brumbies).
Coach: Ian Foster
Captain: Jono Gibbes
Notable players:
Byron Kelleher, Mills Muliaina,
Notable Retired or O/S players:
Jonah Lomu, Caleb Ralph
The Crusaders (formerly the Canterbury Crusaders) are based in Christchurch, New Zealand and they represent the Buller, Canterbury, Mid-Canterbury, South Canterbury, Tasman, and West Coast provincial rugby unions.
They are the current Super 14 champions and the most successful team in Super Rugby history.....and I hate them.
Their main home ground is Jade Stadium.
Coach: Robbie Deans
Captain: Richie McCaw
Notable players:
Richie McCaw, Daniel girlie skirt Carter, Aaron Mauger, Reuben Thorne, Chris Jack
Notable Retired or O/S players:
Todd Blackadder, Justin Marshall
The Highlanders (formerly known as Otago Highlanders), draw their team from the South Island regions of Otago, North Otago, and Southland.
The Highlanders take their name from the fact that Otago, North Otago, and Southland were founded by Scottish emigrants in the 1840s and 1850s and the name "Highlander" was seen to conjure up images of loyalty, strength, honesty and hard work.
The team plays primarily in Dunedin at Carisbrook, with one home match each year at Rugby Park Stadium in Invercargill.
Coach: Greg Cooper
Captain: Josh Blackie
The Hurricanes (formerly known as the Wellington Hurricanes) represents the East Coast, Poverty Bay, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Wairarapa-Bush, Horowhenua-Kapiti and Wellington provincial rugby unions. Their main home ground is Westpac Stadium aka The Cake Tin in Wellington
The Hurricanes had a poor first season, but rebounded in 1997 with a third placing. The team did not reach the play-offs for another five years as the team struggled in the bottom four of the table. Since 2003 the Hurricanes have made the post-season three times seasons out of the last four; including the 2006 final. They lost the bizarre encounter against the Crusaders, 19-12.
Coach: Colin Cooper
Captain: Rodney So'oialo
Notable players:
Tana Umaga, Jerry Collins
Notable Retired or O/S players:
Christian Cullen, Sireli Bobo
I wish the New Zealand Teams Good Luck.
...I'm sure you will all do so well...seeing as it's World Cup year...which means Bill won't be doing the Haka....
Non rugby readers...let me clarify....
The New Zealand players (Super 14) and The All Blacks are always on fire leading up to the World Cup.
They look invincible....then they rain on their own parade.
Basically. They choke.
May the most deserving team win the 2007 Super 14.
Go The Brumbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Serious question (don't expect too many of them from me either, okay? ... (Cos you won't get them ... ***
But do you ever sense that you threaten a lot of men by your superior knowledge of a man's game? ...
I'm just curious ... from a male perspective ... (I like to think that growing up in a male team-sport enviornment ... that I have a fairly comprehensive knowledge of men and how they think (and talk) and act ...
And I just reckon that a lot of men (boys?) would find your intelligence very threatenening ...
And if you can't give me a serious answer? ... Stuff you then ... *** ... (That is definitely a joke) ... Na ... For me? I love sport ... and Rugby? ... I'm a once in a four year watcher of the sport ... (A world cup Rugby boy here all the way ...
But I find it interesting in one respect ... this one ... We all fall in love with the game we grow up with and all think it's the only code ... the best sport in the world (and I'm no exception really .... I'm still more pro Aussie Rules than Rugby ... and that's bloody hard to change ... It's a bit like parental conditioning I guess (hard to change ...
I've rarely seen any people swap codes (in a love allegiance way ... (but I have seen it ... I've seen it in Aussie Rules ... In Melbourne? ... Some of the die-hard (or former die hard supporters? ... They abandoned the game when they sanitised and corporatised it ... (and they go to suburban matches ...
Me? I like to consider myself a sports-lover ... and purist ... eg ... If a game of AFL is crap? I'll turn it off ...
I know you don't like League ... but just to make my point ... I remember when Melbourne Storm won their first premiership ... That grand final ... ? the dying moments ... It shitted on the AFL grand final that year ...
Why am I raving so much on your blog?
You tell me and we'll both know ... ***
Just a few thoughts about sport coursing through my mind .. And I did want to tell you that I find your Posts instructional and educational ... That's all ... (and that, as a sports-lover ??? I LOVE THEM! ...
More Rugby POSTS thanks ... less about lippy and makeup ... *** (but chuck the odd Comic book one in PLEASE ... cos to me ... love the old comics ... My fav's ??? Superman and the Phantom ... Hard to pick a winner there ...
Going now ...

Serious question.... Which one?
I'm kidding darlin'...kidding!
Look...between you, Norm and KarenC, I'm bending and oh God..pleeeaaase don't twist what I have just written into some sordid connotation because yes, there are some not sordid connotations but this was not a coonotation at all, just a very serious comment.
Where was I?
Right.
I'm leaning towards watching an AFL game okay?
Be well Treasure....and leave my lipstick alone.

Answered in full by this:
Thanks ...
As to the other questions I asked? Well I got what I deserved ... What's that saying? Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer? .... ***
Nup ... Fully answered thanks ...
And Norm? ... He disturbs me big time. I think he's gay ... *** And after my arse big-time ... (But when he comes after me? ... I'll be ready ... Why? I've been shoving buttered carrots up my arse in preparation ... If he brings a strap-on? Me? I'll be fully-prepared ... If I didn't have a fear of flying? I'll fly to his place tonight and get the painful pleasure over and done with ... (but then again ... If i did that? I'd be addicted to anal sex for life ... I just know it ... I'd better stop now ... If Norm reads this? He'll get aroused and put his vibe up his arse ... (fuck I so hope he doesn't read this *** Me? Naughty as ... (my smile? as cheeky as they get ... Me? I'm like Kramer when he got the wrong number plates ... ASS MAN ... Fuck I have to stop thinking about Norm's arse ... I did so well today ... (Nup that's it ... I'm whacking off over his arse ... RIGHT NOW!!! ***
Sorry to corrupt your site Dusk ... (but some people might get a laugh out of this ... Me? I just get aroused ... ***
Gooooooooonnnnnnnneeeeeeee... Naughty David *

Hehe, I love it!
While I'm always happy to see an Aussie beat a NZ side, it's nothing compared to the pleasure I see from an Aussie side kicking some Sth African butt!!!! I look forward to your rundown on those damn Sth Africans!

Rugby World Cup 2007
I've watched a game in Canberra between the Brumbies (go The Brumbies!) and The Highlanders (whatever) and it was snowing...in April.
The Brumbies won.
But yes, this does seem to be a problem especially when they play Carisbrook in Dunedin (home of the Highlanders)...
The NZ teams have the edge because NZ doesn't experience Summer...
It was certainly a problem when the Wallabies played Ireland during the last Northern Spring tour...it was raining, hailing, flooding...eek....we lost big time...I put it down to the fact that we're not used to playing in such weather...with the drought and all...
Thanks for coming by Cibby....and go The Brumbies!!!

TOO COOL.
Sorry for 'shouting' but I was just thinking about PMing you and asking how do you say "hello" in Afrikaans or (is it?) Xhosa...
Is it 'molo'?
Let me just state...I love Africa....just not the S African rugby teams...they're kinda vicious.

hhhmmm hello in Afrikaans....I think it is 'Goeie Dag' or if you prefer English the men normally say something along the lines of 'Howzit my china' , or 'Howzit bru'. Xhosa I am not sure, Zulu it would be 'Sawubona'. They have so many different languages there I get confused!!!!
*lol* don`t worry, stress less! The only thing I need to know about the South African Rugby team is when Jaco van der Westhuyzen is playing. Grrrr - he can ruck and roll anytime....other than that? NO CLUE
Nah don`t care to be a department store hey, not today anyways....
cheers chick
