The Wallabies v Scotland: Och Jimmy...lang may yer scrum ruck!
November 24th 2006 10:52
My beloved Wallabies continue their tour of Celtic lands. They’ve left the fire of Eire behind them and now seek to reclaim dignity in Alba...let’s hope they don’t get put off kilter.
More shuffling and changing...but my Penultimate Man is still back at being the Perfect 10. Sad sack that I am, this alone makes me happy. Rugby wise.
As I have said before and will continue to say...Stephen Larkham has the heart of a Forward trapped in the body of a Back...but oh what a body...
Tuqiri is back on wing and Scott Staniforth is now being tried and tested at #12 Inside Centre. Stirling Mortlock is back in his usual position at #13 Outside Centre.
I spoke with NSW Waratahs Coach, Ewen McKenzie, earlier this week (full interview is destined for a print publication so will not see the light of day here...yet) about what the bloomin’ hell is happening with the backline;
“There’s been a lot of experimentation and that doesn’t always help the combinations nor cohesion. I’m sure there’s an answer in there somewhere but I’m not sure about their game philosophy so I can’t say”
“The Wallabies have just got to keep plugging away. The frustrating part is all the chopping and changing, for most people it’s hard to ascertain whether we’ve moved forward or not but I’m sure the coaches believe we have.”
It has taken Staniforth almost 4 years to get back to being a Wallaby, which is a damn shame because he’s an excellent player, excelling at both Wing and Fullback positions.
He was Player of The Year for his team the Western Force (WA) and was runner-up Australian Super 14 Player of the Year.
So Staniforth could be a Jedi....he literally used The Force to get back in the squad!
By the way ladies...he’s not bad to look at either. Too bad I only have (s)eyes for Larkham.
The Forward pack has changed too...and this is where I lay my claim to associated fame...six degrees of separation...Benn Robinson was in a team my husband used to coach.
Yay...go Benny!
Benn is at #1 Tighthead Prop, the very position my husband used to play.
All I need and want now is for one of my sons to be a Wallaby...no pressure boys...not that your lives depend on it or anything... (knife being sharpened in the distance can be heard)
And David ‘Bruiser’ Lyons is back from injury. He’s a good workhorse this one, a real Lyonheart and let’s not forget he won the prestigious John Eales (bow, curtsey) Medal back in 2004.
As for Scotland...och jimmy...all ah wanna bey is a wee lass from Scortluhnd...but my parents brought me up in England. I am so deprived.
They have been in good form, beating France, England and Italy but...let us also not forget that Scotland bless their Brave Hearts, have not won against Australia since 1982.
Let us not lose faith sportsfans. The Wallabies may have lost some of their lustrous right to bluster but they are The Wallabies and they will bounce back.

You're not going to like me, I'm also of Scottish descent.
We scots are a dour lot. Not me, but do put in the Scottish accent, which for me is half the Appeal in answering this post.
I'm sorry, I'll bring my tissues if things don't go as well as you'd like.
Whatever I say, I seem to get it wrong.
I'm visiting here because I want to, mainly because I like the name and then because you gave me such a long list of very intelligent women who like footie [hope I've got the name right]. My son played soccer for a couple of years, wasn't much good at it, but it's good for little boys to have fun with other little boys isn't it? and he was a star turn at all the theory.
Please don't ever take me terribly seriously, girls just like to have fun, don't we?

Au contraire...I love the Scotlanders. Wish I was born a Scot. Instead I'm a sassenach. I find the Scots to be a happy, honest, straightforward kind of bunch.
You being Scottish has got nothing tae dae with it....
Kidding katyzzz.

And Dusk, you do know what the word Sassanach means right?
1.Englishman (from the term Saecsen, where we get saxon).
2.Foreigner and enemy (which is no small wonder).
3.I don't say these kind of words, but it is pretty bad.
It is a word with quite a few different contexts.

Yes I do know what Sassanach means...I am one.
JZ...where're you going? Come back JZ...my friend don't forsake me...nooooooooo....
Sorry.
I am aware of a slight negative connotation when said by a Scot...I felt the use of it was justified in reply to the vibe I was getting. . .
I was not aware that it was that bad...so... sorry if I offended.
I begged and pleaded with my parents to move to Scotland but to no avail. I have very strong Scottish ties, which is why I know a little of the language.
Thanks for dropping by JZ...must get back to my family...only came online to check the latest changes to the match...and saw you so had to say "hello"...also see you have a new post...will visit as soon as I can...

ha ha...no, that's not what the words mean but not bad...the meaning is close...it's not a personal attack, that's not what i do, not in real life, not virtually...it's just a request to stop attacking me under cover of cryptic congeniality.
Farewell for now ~Lily love...

I have a few faults. I won't list them, it would take too long for me to go and get the list.
But I have the irritating tendency to stand by my friends. So no forsaking here.
I just thought it interesting that someone would use the word that way.
Hopefully I see you soon in both areas.
