Eye Must Face The Unknown...

July 29th 2007 22:05
...to find what's within.

Oh that's deep....

A whimsical Monday morning post. Just because....

is it a bird or is it a face? (Rucks and Rolls is not a Stephen Larkham site)

a face as lovely as a flower (Rucks and Rolls may mention Stephen Larkham's name once or twice)

a 'mare' coincidence... (Rucks and Rolls does mention Stephen Larkham's name once or twice)

a woman's nature flows like water (Rucks and Rolls mentions Stephen Larkham's name MORE than once or twice)

human horsepower (Rucks and Rolls always mentions Stephen Larkham's name)

These were emailed to me by a friend...so I don't know who to credit. Just felt like sharing them with you all.

Sharing is caring after all.
...except when it comes to The Bledisloe Cup, the Tri Nations Cup, the Rugby World Cup and hiccups.

Have a nice day.

I Thank You...Just Because...

June 6th 2007 02:02
What a novel idea.

To just say Thank You.

I mean...gee...that's a new one. To think that we can actually thank someone...just because...or because it's just.

We seem to have forgotten the Art of Graciousness, don't you think?
Amongst the many lost and forgotten attributes of Graciousness are simple pleasures, what were once necessities, like "please", "excuse me" and "thank you".

One of the many 'me' traits I am thankful for having (and you better believe it sugah, I am thankful I am me...after all...I'm never going to be anyone else...other than my secret identity but that's when I'm saving the world as a jedi-slash-Amazonian supehero and I don't expect thanks for that...all in a day's work really...)

Aneewayy...where was I? Right.

I am thankful that I never forget to say thank you. I never forget to feel it.

As my physical world family and friends can attest to (and if you're reading this, nod your head and say...it.), I feel gratitude daily.

Gratitude not servitude.
Not as in I am not deserving but as in, oh wow....I am so blessed....

I thank my parents for loving me unconditionally, for giving me the opportunities they have, for putting up with the fact that despite their best efforts...I was never going to be the good little Hindu girl that our society demanded...and they accepted that.
They may not have been very happy about a lot of the things I did (but damn it was fun...) but they never tried to force me to be someone I am not.

I thank my father who art in heaven (I hope!) for his genes...because I love the fact that people who know us say I'm just like him. This is such an incredible compliment because my father, was an incredible man...and you can blame him for my pun-ctuation!

I thank my mother...everyday....my God...what a Woman.
...and at 5'2' and 7" shorter than me...when we hug...she still hugs me and holds me like I'm knee high...without forgetting I am an adult. Sort of.

(postus interruptus: I just had to call my mother)

I thank my husband for being who He is.
And I can't really write more about him because I will cry. And I don't want to cry because I'm a very ugly crier...it's quite gross really...my face goes all sad sack and sags...terrible.
...and I don't have time to write an epic.

I thank my children for being as wonderful as they are, despite the many times I've wanted to put them on eBay.
My children?...sigh...they made me a Mother.
That may seem odd but a lot of you will understand what I mean by this.

I thank my friends. Always. I am blessed to have them in my life.
We do choose our friends and it fills me with joy to know that the choices I have made...enrich me...make me a better person. You know?

I thank everyone when thanks are due. Even when they're not. Hell...I even thanked the ratbag who broke my right foot with her stick during a hockey match. It made me determined to help win this match. Prior to that I was nursing a hangover.
We won that match. My right foot/leg was in a cast for 4 months. My foot was hanging on just by a sliver of the little toe bone. Totally cool x-ray.

I thank my life*. I thank myself for seizing every opportunity to live life to it's maximum capacity.

I thank myself for the mistakes I made...which is a total load of bulls**t really because I wish I hadn't made them but I did and what is done is done and I have learned from them, I hope, and I don't beat myself up about them. Anymore. So I am thankful for that.

I thank myself for allowing myself to just be.

Does this sound self serving?...or...eeek.....totally soppy?

Blame this. I found this site, this morning...I was looking for a virtual 'thank you' card to send to a friend overseas....

WELCOME TO THE THANKYOU PROJECT
Our mission is to collect and display as many messages of gratitude from around the world as possible. Consider this site a blank canvas for you to create thankyous for those who need them. Who will you say thankyou to?

Thank someone now.

....just say it....do it....and if you can't do it in person, with your voice....do it here...

...and I do thank Orble. If it wasn't for Orble, I wouldn't have 'met' you all. Some of you have become...well...a lot to be thankful for. You know who you are. I don't need to s.p.e.l.l. it out.
Having said that...some people here?...sheesh...I'm thankful I've put myself out of your misery...

For reading this post....hip swivel snarl...thankyervereemurch....

And for writing this post...sorry....

* the whole Thank God thing?...well, that just goes without saying...

PS. And hell yeah I'm thankful for Rugby. Without it...life would be just another ball game....

Post-castinating....

May 23rd 2007 15:04
Eeeeeek!

I am feeling really, really guilty for not having posted for a while. Not because I haven't wanted to but because.......

No. I haven't wanted to.

Problem is, for me, once something starts feeling like an obligation...rather than pleasure...I'm just not that into it you know?

(lucky I don't ever feel that way about sex Rugby....)

...and I have been busy and when I get really busy, I get lazy...so busy being busy that I get lazy when it comes to 'free time'...does that make any sense?
I have had the time to read and vote and occasionally comment on some wonderful posts but something had to give and I need to sleep...

Actually...having had a 'look around' earlier tonight...a few bloggers are MIA...once in a Blue Moon thing this...

There is sooooooo much happening in Rugby right now....so so much.

Super 14 season is over, as of last weekend.
It was over for me 2 weekends ago when my belusted Larkham's beloved Brumbies hopes got dashed by the dastardly Reds.

Although the Brumbies won their match...in spectacular fashion...and I really must write about this because it was Larkham and Gregan's final Super 12/14 match ever AND the Brumbies were not expected to win this match (...either - see this post but please don't expect maturity...I'm too old to be mature...)...statistically speaking, the Qld Rds needed to win their match that weekend, in order for the Brumbies to move ahead in points.

The Reds lost. 92 - 3. Yes. 3.

Aneewayy.

....it's test match season!!

The first Wallabies match is this weekend (v Wales) and guess what sportsfans?? (and those that are curious)...the match should be on free-to-air (Australian Channel 7) so now you can all see STEPHEN LARKHAM in his glory.

I'll keep you posted.

Obligation free.

And then I'm going on a blog binge. Bloglimia. Or is that post binge? Postlimia? Am I babbling? I am aren't I? Can one babble through the written word? What's the term for that? Blogling? No...blogling would be the blog jnr....I'm confused...I gotta go...

Be well sportsfans. And those that are curious.

Wrought Irony #3: A Judy Kate Story.

This post has been moved because I felt like expressing the sentiment but didn't feel like writing it all again.

It's 'better' now anyway. The amended version is here

Um...I may get tackled for writing this because yes, I did say I'd stick to doing what I do best, drooling over Stephen Larkham (I save the salivating for my husband. Gee. Lucky him.)and occasionally writing a post about what this blog is about....

(...is it too late to rename it Larkyum.com
